Green Parrot Funk

by Jason Davis

/

about

This is that FUNK!
This song is a historical flash back to the 1950's and 60's in South Dallas, Texas. There was a legendary place called the "Green Parrot". This song is all about that sound. The Nu Jazz Narrative is designed to show the connection between the local and national sounds. The track is heavily influenced by the famous musicians of the James Brown band. These grooves will stand the test of time. (Can't go without mentioning my mentor, bandmate and friend Mrs. Jeanette Brantley-Wango who is one of the former owners of The Green Parrot). She kept me working as a young musician coming up.
